NIZAMABAD: Five persons, including an IAS officer, were injured after a lift in which they were stuck fell with a thud in a residential apartment at Armoor in Nizamabad district on Saturday.

State Horticultural department commissioner G Venkatram Reddy, Prof K Jayashankar Agricultural University special officer Dr V Praveen Rao, Agricultural Minister’s son P Surendar Reddy and his friend Chandu were in the lift.

According to Armoor DSP K Ramreddy, the five had visited Agriculture Commissioner Parthasarathi, who had lost his mother recently, at Varsha apartments in the Teachers’ Colony in Armoor.  The lift collapsed while they were coming downstairs due to a technical snag. While Venkatramreddy, Surendar Reddy and Chandu suffered fractures, the others sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. Though no case has been registered, the police said they were inquiring about the measures taken by the apartment owners for proper maintainence of lift.
