Tragedy a Day Before Court Hearing on Sarika's Complaint

The timing of the death of Sarika and her three sons, who were charred to death at their residence has added depth to the mystery.

HYDERABAD:Sarika, the daughter-in-law of former Warangal MP Sircilla Rajaiah was scheduled to appear before the Nampally criminal court on Friday, in connection with a case filed by her against her husband and in-laws in February, 2015. Siricilla Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi, son Anil and another women were also expected to appear before the court. The timing of the death of Sarika and her three sons, who  were charred to death at their residence has added depth to the mystery.

“Sarika had caught Anil red handed while he was having a live-in relationship with a woman at his flat in Sai residency located in Balkampet. Since then, Anil and his parents started harassing Sarika,” said Janakamma, inspector, Begumpet women police station, quoting from a chargesheet that was filed before the Nampally court in February 2015.

Last year, Sarika filed a petition before the Nampally court seeking directions to Women police to register a case. The police registered cases under section 498 (a) (husband or relative of the husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife) of the IPC and launched an investigation.

Sarika and Anil were classmates and they fell in love. After completing his B.Tech course, Anil went to UK for higher studies.  Sarika also flew to UK where she started her careerl. In 2002, they returned and got married against the will of their parents as they belonged to different communities.

After elders gave their consent, the marriage was performed according to the rituals at Yadagirigutta on March 3, 2006. Sarika had joined as SAP- BI Consultant at IBM India while Anil did not have any job.  Later, she left the job.

“There was discord growing between Anil and Sarika. In 2011, Sarika grew suspicious about her husband after listening to his conversations over phone. One day, Sarika caught Anil red handed with a woman with whom he had a live-in relationship, in his flat. Since then, Anil started harassing her,” Janakamma said.

In her complaint, Sarika alleged that Anil and his parents threatened her against interfering in his personal issues, despite he living with another woman. “You have to sacrifice your life. If you proceed legally, you will become a beggar. Nothing will happen to us as Rajaiah was an MP and he has influence,” the family threatened, according to the complaint filed by Sarika.
