18 More Ghats to be Built for Krishna Pushkarams

HYDERABAD: The state government is expecting that around one crore pilgrims will have holy dip during the 12-day Krishna Pushkarams to be held next year.

Endowments minister A Indrakaran Reddy held a meeting with officials concerned on the conduct of Krishna Pushkarams at the Secretariat here on Monday. The minister directed the officials to prepare plans to facilitate the flow of one crore pilgrims during the 12-day event.

The officials informed Indrakaran Reddy that in addition to the existing 16 ghats there was a need to construct 18 additional bathing ghats for the Pushkarams. The minister directed the officials to prepare detailed project reports for all the works including construction of new ghats, roads and others. He assured that funds required for the works will be included in the 2016-17 budget.

Another meeting would be held once the proposals for various works were ready. The TRS MPs will urge the Central government during the winter session of the Parliament for funds for the conduct of the Krishna Pushkarams.  Minister G Jagadish Reddy, government advisor KV Ramanachary and others officials were also present at the meeting.
