NIZAMABADState government is likely to take a decision soon to provide mid-day meals to polytechnic and ITI students of the state.
Nizamabad Girls ITI college principal and All India Government ITI Staff Association vice president K Rammohan Rao submitted a memorandum to TRS MP K Kavitha, explaining the need for providing mid-day meals to ITI students of the state.
He has enclosed several relevant documents including Medical reports of the students.
Rao said that most of the students from rural areas belong to poor and lower middleclass and they are facing serious anemic problems that are affecting their health.
He further said that this happen as students were unable to take food on time and added that due to all these problems they were unable to attend classes regularly. “Government is providing `45 to each student as stipend and is also giving scholarships to particularly SC and ST students, but due to several conditions majority of the students are unable get benefit from the facilities,” Rao explained. He explained that Nizamabad girls ITI has a strength more than 400, but they did not forward even 10 percent applications for stipend and scholarships to higher officials.
In this situation he urged the MP to take initiative to force the government to provide mid-day meals to ITI students.
After considering the issue Kavitha wrote a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Officials reacted on this issue and sought a report from technical education department.
The technical education commissioner’s office has submitted a detailed report and urged the government to extend the facility to government polytechnic students also.
After all these developments Kavitha discussed the issue with KCR and he said that the government is likely to take a final decision on providing mid-day meals to ITI students.
Kavitha informed ITI Principal Rao that the government will take decision and orders will be issued soon and opined that this will strengthen government ITI in the state.
“Even polytechnic students should get benefit from the programme as it is not an unbearable financial burden on the government,” Rao opined.
He observed that if the government strengthen ITIs it will help to play a major role in National Skill Development Programme (NSDP).
