HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has urged State Election Commissioner V.Nagi Reddy to take necessary steps for smooth conduct of elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

In a letter to Nagi Reddy on Saturday, the TPCC president wanted him to direct the GHMC to make preparation of electoral rolls along with specified BC voters list, taking the ground realities into consideration.

“The specified and rectified list should be kept online so that people can easily verify and apply for any rectification in the lists,” he said.

Uttam said that there was much resentment with regard to the number of BC voters with the GHMC estimating their number at 26.22 pc whereas the percentage of BC voters was 52 pc as per the household survey conducted by the State.

“GHMC declared that they  finalised BC voters list on Nov 26 and displayed it in the circle, zonal and mandal offices and supply it to all political parties. But no BC list has been displayed in the offices concerned,”  Uttam alleged.
