Bhadrachalam Bandh on Oct 6 as Clamour Rises for Tribal Dist

KHAMMAM:Adivasi Samkshema Parishad with the support of ‘Save Bhadradri committee’ has called for Bhadrachalam bandh on  October 6, demanding the government to declare Bhadrachalam as a tribal district.

ASP state convener Sonde Veeraiah and save Bhadradri committee members B Jagadeswara Rao in a media briefing on Saturday said that as part of their struggle they are calling for the bandh and sought cooperation.

“Tribal population is spread across 24 mandals against 44 tribal mandals in the district and four Assembly constituencies have been allotted to tribals in the district. Keeping all facts in view, the government should declare Bhadrachalam as tribal district,” he added.

The members also said there is no shortage of land in Bhadrachalam for setting up district headquarters, as there is 15,000 acres of government land available near ITC Sarapaka.Bhadrachalam has been a scheduled area since British regime and government should declare it as a tribal district, they added.
