HYDERABAD: The recent incident of pigeons being tied to fireworks rockets allegedly by Congress workers in West Godavari district has touched the raw nerve with animal protection groups which brought the cruel act to the notice of party president Sonia Gandhi.
In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Humane Society International-India managing director NG Jayasimha requested her office to condemn the incident and issue directions prohibiting use of animals by her partymen for political events.
