PIL on Kaka Statue Closed

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court on Tuesday permitted the Tank Bund Ambedkar Park Parirakshana Samithi to make a representation against the installation of a statue of the late G Venkat Swamy, popularly known as Kaka, in the Amdedkar Park.

The bench, comprising acting chief justice Dilip B Bhosale and justice SV Bhatt, was closing a PIL filed by the Samithi challenging  installation a statue of Venkat Swamy in the park which is meant exclusively for Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

The bench felt that at this stage the issue may not be adjudicated as the statue had already been unveiled. It, however, permitted the petitioner to approach the government raising all the relevant issues, and closed the PIL.
