The state government has begun the process of auctioning government lands to generate a revenue of Rs 3,000 crore.

HYDERABAD: The state government has begun the process of auctioning government lands to generate a revenue of Rs 3,000 crore. Though it proposed in the new state’s first budget itself to earn revenue from auction of government lands, it could not start the process due to various reasons.

In the current budget it proposed to net Rs 3,000 crore from auction of lands and Rs 13,500 crore through regularisation of lands and land sales.

The revenue departmentissued a GO on Wednesday fixing procedural guidelines for public auction of lands. But it is not accessible to the public and the matter is kept confidential.

The gist of the GO says: “Disposal of government land parcels which are not required for any public purpose and cannot be kept idle for encroachments located in various prime areas scattered throughout the state by open public auction - Procedural guidelines - Issued”.
