HYDERABAD:A whopping 1.83 lakh house applications are pending in Hyderabad district. But due to non-availability of land and with just 400 houses being allotted to each constituency, the hopes of these hapless applicants, seems to have dashed.

Till now about 1.83 lakh applications have been received for housing under various schemes like Rajiv Gruha Kalpa (RGK), applications identified through socio economic status, applications received during grievances hearing, among others. “Sir, I am a widow and do not have a house? I have applied for a house in 2011 and going around various offices. When will I get a house?” questions a middle-aged woman to the staff of housing department office located on the Collectorate premises.

Queries like have become a common sight at the housing department office and during the Prajavani programme held every Monday.

With no chances of constructing houses to these applicants in the near future, officials find it hard to answer to the complaints, often end up experiencing the wrath of people whose applications have been pending.
