Cops Reach Out to Families of Maoists

KARIMNAGAR:District police visited Maoist’s kin in their respective precincts and presented the families with new clothes, sweets and fruits on Vijaya Dashami.

Thirty two men from Karimnagar district had gone underground after affiliating with the insurgent group.

SP D Joel was at KKW group secretary Kankanala Raji Reddy’s house at Kistampet in Kalwasrirampur mandal and met his mother Kankanala Veeramma (76) and his brothers Komal Reddy and Malla Reddy on Thursday.

Joel appealed to Raji Reddy’s mother to see that her son surrenders to the government. The SP assured the Maoist leader’s mother that the government will provide treatment for her son who is reportedly in ill health.

“The government will also hand over the bounty on his head and use the money to rehabilitate Raji Reddy if he chooses to surrender,” the SP added.

Veeramma appealed to her son to surrender to the government and take care of her. SP also assured that her medical expenses will be covered by the police department. OSD L Subba Rayudu, Additional SP B Janardhan Reddy , Sultanabad CI T Srinivas Rao and other police officers participated in this programme.

The SP and police officers had earlier held an Ayudha Pooja at district police headquarters to celebrate Vijaya Dashami.
