HYDERABAD: It was a great honour to a civil servant, posthumously, as several former IAS officers and elite gathered to remember him on his 100th birth anniversary on Tuesday.
CS Ramachandran, the most distinguished members of the erstwhile Indian Civil Service (ICS) was remembered by several retired IAS officers at a function here on Tuesday.
A 1937-batch ICS officer and 102-year-old VK Rao released the book on the biography of CS Ramachandran popularly known as CSR. The biography was penned by CSR’s daughter and also a former civil servant CR Gayathri.
Besides, the biography of CSR, two more books ‘Sri Sundara Ramanama Manimala’ penned by CSR himself and ‘ABC of Devi’ were also distributed to the audience.
Several speakers on the occasion recalled the services of CSR both as a civil servant and in the areas of religion, philosophy, culture, education and others.
Retired IAS officer TL Shankar said one should learn the simplicity and humility from CSR’s life. Another retired IAS officer M Gopala Krishna said CSR was a role model and set high standards as an officer. “CSR was an ideal civil servant, a good human being,” Shankar said recalling that CSR was instrumental in renovating the famous Badrinath temple and took stones from Banjara Hills in Hyderabad to Badrinath. Another former IAS officer S Chakravathi termed CSR as a walking encyclopedia.
Retired IAS officer S Parthsarathy said the biography of CSR captured many facets of CSR’s life. Noted doctor AP Ranga Rao also spoke.
