Sunday shocker: 4 women sexually assaulted, three dead in TS

Four women, including two minors, were sexually assaulted and three of them brutally murdered by the assailants.

HYDERABAD: Four women, including two minors, were sexually assaulted and three of them brutally murdered by the assailants, causing concern about the safety of women in the state on Sunday.

Three of the incidents occurred in Hyderabad, while a newly-wedded woman was kidnapped in Karimnagar after assaulting her father. She was murdered allegedly after she resisted an attempt to rape.

In the first case,  a 9-year-old girl was kidnapped, raped and then killed by a youth who is said to be a habitual offender. Anil Kumar, the accused, was recently released from jail recently. It is said that he was involved in a rape and murder case in Medak district and was arrested by the police there. He was released on bail as the case is still in trial stage.

Bollaram Inspector S Maheswar said the victim was playing in the compound of a toddy shop near Alwal when the accused, who was consuming toddy there, approached her, played with her for some time and later took her out offering to buy chocolates for her.

“We collected CCTV footage from the compound in which Anil Kumar was seen playing with the girl and later taking her out,” the inspector said, adding that special teams were formed to nab him. The body of the victim was found 2 kms away from the toddy compound with her head smashed with boulders. Police said the girl was sexually assaulted. 

In another case, a minor girl was kidnapped and raped by two persons at Satamrai locality in Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police limits. 

RGIA Inspector M Mahesh said the accused Jagan kidnapped the minor girl, who hails from the same locality, and sexually assaulted her along with his friend. According to the victim, the accused later forced her to consume soft drinks laced with pesticide. Fearing arrest, Jagan too consumed the pesticide. The victim and Jagan were admitted to a hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)  Shamshabad, Sunpreet Singh said they would arrest the accused soon.

In another incident, an unknown woman was found murdered near Shaikpet nala in Golconda police limits. Police said the woman might had been raped and murdered.
