Woman kidnapped, killed in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR:  A 23-year-old newly-married woman, was kidnapped after assaulting her father in Karimnagar, on Saturday night. The body of Mounika, the victim was found on Sunday morning.

Police said the accused had tried to sexually assault the woman and as she resisted, they strangled her to death with her saree.

The kidnap took place on Saturday night, when the victim was returning home along with her father B Nadipi Mallaiah on a two-wheeler. As they reached Govindram in Medipalli mandal, two miscreants stopped  the bike and kidnapped Mounika after assaulting Mallaiah.

On a complaint filed by Mallaiah, a man hunt was launched but police could not trace the woman.

On Sunday morning, the victim was found dead at an isolated place near Deshaipet village, six km away from the place where she was abducted. Police said there were marks indicating that the accused had tried to assault her sexually. As she resisted, they might have killed her, police said. The victim was strangulated to death.

Mounika hailed from Deshaipet and was married to Mahesh of Mothkuraopet two months ago. Mahesh was planning to leave for Dubai in search of a job next month. The victim had completed her Intermediate.

Korutla CI K Rajashekara Raju said they registered a case of kidnap initially but changed it to murder.
