'No compensation needed, we oppose project'

HYDERABAD: While ruling TRS and opposition parties are fighting over Land Acquisition Act 2013 or GO 123 for providing compensation for land to be acquired for Mallana Sagar project, the villagers whose land is proposed to be acquired are angry over compensation proposals saying that they are opposing the project tooth and nail.

“Villagers are against the Mallanna Sagar project and have clarified that they will not give their lands. But TRS leaders are manipulating and creating rift among us. The government is making false statements that villagers have agreed to give their lands. Even opposition parties are making things worse by raising the issue of compensation. When we are altogether opposed to the project, where is the question of compensation,” questioned A Raja Narasimha Reddy, a farmer from Vemulaghat village, speaking at the round table conference held here on Tuesday on  ‘Whether Mallanna Sagar project is necessary?’ Villagers and farmers who would be  affected by the project participated in the conference. They highlighted the government’s manipulative tactics being used.
