Siddipet Municipal Polls on April 6

SANGAREDDY:  Election commission issued a notification to conduct elections to Siddipet municipality on April 6. Counting of votes will be held on April 11 and results will be announced on the same day, said district election officer and collector Ronald Ross here on Sunday.

According to the schedule, the election process for 34 wards in Siddipet municipality will start on Monday. Nominations can be submitted from March 21 to 23 from 11 am to 3 pm. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 24 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 25. The list of contesting candidates in each ward will be released on the same day. Polling will be held on April 6 from 7 am to 5 pm. Electronic voting machines will be used and re-polling, if needed, will be held on April 9. Counting of votes will start at 8 am on April 11. Results will be announced subsequently.

The collector said there are 88,982 voters in Siddipet municipality and as many as 84 polling stations will be set up to facilitate the voters.

Earlier, there used to be one assistant returning officer for three to four wards, but this time there will be one assistant returning officer for each ward and the nomination will be received in the respective wards.

There are as many as 22 hyper sensitive polling centres and 35 sensitive booths in the municipality where adequate security arrangements will be made. A team of 43 central employees will be deployed as micro observers.

The collector said services of around 505 government employees will be utilised for the conduct of the election. The whole polling process will be web-casted and engineering students will be deployed at the polling centres for the purpose. Collector Ronald Ross also said video cameras are being setup at polling centres.
