Forest circles in Telangana to be increased: Jogu Ramanna

HYDERABAD: Forests minister Jogu Ramanna said the forest circles in the state would be increased from the present 5 to 16 and the forest divisions from 22 to 48 in the state post reorganisation of districts.

At a review on the forest department in the wake of formation of new districts, Ramanna on Tuesday said the Forest circles would be increased from 1 to 4 in each district. The present district forest officer (DFO) post would be renamed as forest divisional officer (FDO) in future.

The forest department proposed to increase the forest divisions from the 22 to 48 in the proposed 27 districts. Ramanna said that they proposed to create five CCF posts in the department. All the Forest circles would have flying squads. The forest ranges would also be increased in the new districts, Ramanna said.
