KT Rama Rao rules out district status for Sircilla

KARIMNAGAR:  Sircilla people’s hope of a new district  lies shattered with IT minister KT Rama Rao telling Sircilla’s public representatives and his close followers that it cannot be made a district. Some leaders from Sircilla met the minister, who represents Sircilla in the Assembly, in Hyderabad on Wednesday. JAC leaders and locals, after hearing the minister’s decision, besieged the house of Sircilla municipal chairperson Samala Pavani and demanded her resignation. The chairperson tried to pacify the agitators, saying that when she met Rama Rao, he assured her that Sircilla would be developed on a par with the district headquarters and that Sircilla town would be made a model town of the state.  She said KTR proposed Sircilla as a new district but it cannot be created because of shortage of mandals and some other reasons.   Meanwhile, TRS leaders who had been on an indefinite strike called off their stir without any announcement on Thursday. On the other hand, JAC leaders are preparing an action plan to intensify their agitation.
