Speed up acquisition process for Palamuru

HYDERABAD: Irrigation minister T Harish Rao has directed the officials to speed up the land acquisition process for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. At a reviewing meeting here on Thursday, Harish Rao enquired about the problems relating to  land acquisition.

Of the 18 packages in Palamuru-Rangareddy project, some packages required surveyors. Harish Rao directed special chief secretary (irrigation) SK Joshi to bring two surveyors from Geological Survey of India on deputation to the irrigation department.

The irrigation officials should take help from local MLAs, ministers and officials for expediting the land acquisition process, Harish Rao said. Palamuru-Rangareddy project requires 26,756 acres of land. So far, 12,779 acres were acquired, of which, 4,229.09 acres was government land and 8,504.77 acres was patta land. Another 14,022.77 acres of land was in the process of acquisition, project chief engineer C Lingaraju informed the minister.
