HYDERABAD: Congress Party, which has been considering the issue of alleged police brutalities against dalits in Sircilla as an opportunity to woo its one-time vote bank, SCs, back to its fold, seems to have decided to continue its strategy of using “caste card” to needle TRS leadership. After giving pinpricks to the pink party by using former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar as its mascot during the recent protest in Sircilla Assembly segment, Telangana Congress leadership on Thursday indicated that it would bank on “caste politics” to “teach a fitting lesson to the TRS.”

A day after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s blistering attack on the Congress, the TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who hails from an influential Reddy community, on Thursday, said, “A social class, which has not even 0.05 per cent presence in Telangana has been able to rule the state only because of the Congress Party’s decision to bifurcate the erstwhile united state. People of the TS also patiently accepted the way a social class, whose presence is minimal, has taken up the reins of the new state, post-bifurcation.”“But, this government is now suppressing the rights of weaker sections, who constitute majority of people in the state.”

“The way Dalits were brutally tortured by police for protesting against illegal sand mining in Sircilla is an example for this. Its very unfortunate that instead of acting against the police, the CM is defending the police action.” “Thus, he is backing the sand mafia which is ruling the roost in Sircilla segment, represented by IT minister KT Rama Rao,” Uttam attacked, while addressing mediapersons here.

According to the TPCC chief, chief minister Rao was more concerned about burning of two lorries belonging to sand mafia by dalits than the loss of human lives under the wheels of sand carrying lorries.
“The CM is least bothered about the loss of lives of Dalits, BCs and others due to illegal movement of vehicles of sand mafia in Sircilla. The CM is defending the inhuman deeds of the cops. It’s a known fact that illegal sand activities are being carried out in Sircilla by the Goldmine Mineral company run by Santhosh Rao, a close relative of the CM,” Uttam said.

“By supporting the actions of police, KCR is giving clear indications that he is turning Telangana into a Police State and considering the police as his private army. Very soon, all sections of people along with dalits will revolt against the CM and drive away his family from the State,” he thundered.
Taking strong exception to CM’s remarks against Meira Kumar, former union minister Jairam Ramesh and others, the TPCC chief said KCR had gone to the extent of criticising Meira Kumar, daughter of Babu Jagjivan Ram. “It is highly regrettable that KCR has tried to belittle a Dalit woman leader, who had played a key role in the formation of Telangana,” he remarked.

Will raise Nerella issue in Parliament, says TPCC chief
TPCC chief Uttam said the Congress was exploring legal and political options to get justice for Dalits and others in Nerella incident. He said the party would raise the issue in Parliament, besides complaining to National SC Commission. The party was also preparing a report on the environmental damage caused due to excessive sand mining in the state, he added.

Kothagudem MLA demands apology from KCR for abusing Left parties
Khammam:
CPI party state joint secretary and former Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao demanded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s apology for abusing Left parties. Speaking to media here on Thursday, Kunamneni warned if the Chief Minister does not tender apology to the Left parties, they would not allow him to enter Khammam district.

Kunameni said that KCR is talking like street leader and not like Chief Minister of Telangana. The CM has failed to stop farmers suicides and about 107 farmers of his constituency have committed suicide. He is unable to digest allegations and attacks by the Opposition parties and hence, he is using filthy language, former MLA said. He alleged that KCR’s family members are looting commission from all schemes.
