NIRMAL/HYDERABAD: A postgraduate medical student of Osmania Medical College, pursuing a specialisation in Anaesthesia, allegedly ended her life in her home in Mudhole, Nirmal on Tuesday. She reportedly overdosed on anaesthetic drugs.
J Savitha, 25, a second-year postgraduate student was reportedly found unconscious in her home. She died by the time she was taken to the Bhainsa Area Hospital. Police said they found medicines in her room.
She is the second student from OMC’s Anaesthesia department reported to have committed suicide in the past year. Students from OMC were shocked to hear of her death.
On Tuesday, she reportedly spoke to her relatives who visited her home. Police said, she had food and left to her room but when family members checked on her later, she was unconscious. Savitha’s father Gangadhar said she did not have any problems at home. In October 2016, B Sravani a postgraduate student of the same department committed suicide by overdosing on anaesthetic drugs. “Medicos have access to anaesthetic medicines. They attend patients and it is not possible to stop their access,” an anaesthetist said. A case has been registered.
