Police constable dies in alleged weapon misfire in Telangana

Police were investigating if it was an accident or the cop shot himself dead, in the incident which occurred at Armed Reserve headquarters in Karimnagar town.

HYDERABAD: A police constable died on Saturday when his gun went off in Telangana's Karimnagar district, police said.

Police were investigating if it was an accident or the cop shot himself dead, in the incident which occurred at Armed Reserve headquarters in Karimnagar town.

D. Chandraiah was serving in the Armed Reserve (AR). The incident occurred a few minutes before the constable was to return home after duty.

Police said they have registered a case and were investigating.
