Amit Shah to visit TS, AP after upcoming polls

A top leader disclosed that BJP wants to improve its tally in Karnataka, Odisha and West Bengal along with the two Telugu speaking states by 2019 polls.

HYDERABAD: The BJP central leadership, which is now busy with five states’ polls, will focus on TS and AP exclusively, soon after those polls. BJP national president Amit Shah will monitor the situation of the saffron party in both the Telugu-speaking states with an aim to make the party emerge as a political force in the sibling states by 2019 polls.

Party sources said Amit Shah has already asked the presidents of the party units in TS and AP, K Laxman and K Hari Babu respectively, to prepare a detailed report on Assembly segments where the party has a considerable base, besides suggesting measures to strengthen the party in other constituencies in the both the states.

“After the completion of Assembly polls in the five states, Amit Shah would hold meetings with party leaders at booth level to elicit their views on how to make the party more stronger,” BJP Telangana state unit president K Laxman told Express.

According to him, Amit Shah, who had already visited TS three times, will undertake a three-day tour to the state , soon after polls in five states, to formulate a strategy for strengthening the party.

The leader informed that as part of strengthening the party in TS and AP, the Central government will announce more development projects to the two States in the next two-and-a-half years.  Sources said the party central leadership also asked the State leaders to concentrate on attracting efficient leaders from other parties including the ruling TRS and ruling TDP both in TS and AP respectively in order to make the BJP more stronger by 2019 polls.
