Rain inundates CM’s meeting venue  

Heavy rain has flooded the Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar where Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be addressing public on July 12.

KARIMNAGAR : Though rains are a good sign for Haritha Haaram, they have created problems for the public meeting to be addressed by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar where the third phase of the programme is to be launched on July 12, 2017.  Due to heavy rains, the stadium is flooded with water and the officials are making efforts to clear the water-logging on a war footing.

Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed told Express that the public meeting venue is being protected from rains using tins covering dais and public sitting area. Waterlogged areas are being cleared and covered with stone dust.  Patch works in Karimnagar town and Collectorate are being done over night. Officials pressed workers into service and removed clutters inside Collectorate complex anad surrounding area.

Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy visited stadium aand inspected security arrangements. He said that about 10 entry gates are set up for public, VIPs and press and about 2,000 police force would be deployed as part of the bandobast. Temporary CCTV cameras have also been erected in the stadium.

Officials decorated major roads and junctions putting greenery on the entire stretch of roads and walls are decorated with various pictures depicting culture, trees and plantation. Finance minister E Rajender held a meeting with various institutions and asked them to make the CM’s programme a success.

According to tentative reports, the CM will plant a sapling at Lower Manair Dam on the outskirts of Karimnagar while coming from Hyderabad. Later, he would plant a sapling at Collectorate premises and address a public meeting at Ambedkar Stadium. With cloudy weather and rain predictions, the CM may come by road, officials sources said.

‘Speak on medical college issue or I will fast to death’

Karimnagar: Accusing CM of putting issue of setting up Medical College in Karimnagar in cold storage, former MP and TPCC vice president Ponnam Prabhakar warned that if KCR does not make a statement on the issue during his visit to the district on Wednesday for launching Haritha Haaram, he would undertake fast-unto-death from August 4. Referring to Haritha Haaram, he said ministers, MLAs are holding meets officials but there is no public participation. He asked people to boycott CM’s programme for doing injustice to the district.
