No room for emotion, go after TRS: Ram Madhav

The saffron party made it clear that BJP- led NDA support would not mean that it would let the TRS government off the hook.

WARANGAL: Just five days after the ruling TRS unequivocally extended its support to the BJP-led NDA’s Presidential and Vice-presidential candidates, the saffron party on Sunday made it clear that such support would not mean that it would let the TRS government off the hook.

Following BJP war horse M Venkaiah Naidu’s exit from party politics after he was nominated for the VP post, the party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav, who, like Naidu, is from Andhra Pradesh, delivered his maiden address to the BJP Telangana State executive on Sunday at Warangal where he reiterated the party’s commitment to coming to power in the state. “We may have relied on the support of various parties for our nominees in presidential and VP polls. But, that is different and politics is different. Hence, go aggressively against the failures of the TRS. Our only aim is to make the BJP storm to power in the state,” Madhav said.

Dropping hints at how aggressively the BJP plans to pursue power in the Telugu states, particularly Telangana, as part of its expansion in south India, Madhav told state party leaders to adopt a “do-or-die” attitude to ruthlessly quell the BJP’s rivals, including the TRS.

The BJP man, who is considered Naidu’s successor as far as the party is concerned in TS and Andhra, said in politics there is no place for emotions and sentiments.

“BJP’s aim is to win elections. The TRS supported our Presidential candidate... that doesn’t mean that we should go soft on them. There is no place for sentiments in politics. We should be ruthless when it comes to gaining power. We should fight against the anti-people policies of the TRS government. We should win every election from sarpanch to MLA,” he said.

Stating that BJP’s mission was to come to power in every state, Madhav said the party had a road map for this. “Some may come soon. Some may take time. But ultimately, BJP will come to power in every state. This is going to be a reality,” he said.
