Money problems drive six of a family to end life in Telangana's Paleru reservoir

Locals said, the family was cheated by some people in a land deal which led to financial troubles in the household.

KHAMMAM: In a tragic incident, six people of a family including two children committed suicide by jumping into Paleru Reservoir at Nayakangudem, Kusumanchi mandal of Khammam district, in Telangana in the early hours on Wednesday.

Five dead bodies were fished out of the reservoir and search was underway to find out another body. The deceased belonged to Jeellacheruvu village of Kusumanchi mandal in the district.

They have been identified as Shaik Pentoo Saheb (50), his wife Shaik Mahabub Bee(45), their son Shaik Saleem(32), his wife Razia(28) and their children – Sony (8) and Nasreena (4).

Locals said, the family was cheated by some people in a land deal which led to financial troubles in the household.

According to Jeellacheruvu villagers, another family member, Shaik Laloo, was also included in the suicide pact, but he got frightened at the last minute and informed the villagers.

After learning about the incident, villagers informed police. Then, the police and the locals rushed to the reservoir and fished out the bodies.
