Elderly couple found murdered in Telangana's Warangal

WARANGAL: An elderly couple was brutally murdered at their residence in Hasanparthy mandal headquarters on the outskirts of Warangal city, on Monday late night.

The couple, allegedly murdered by thieves, has been identified as G Damodar(63) and Padma(58). According to Hasanparthy CI G Kishan, the husband was found murdered on his bed, while his wife's body was found in their bathroom. The assailants slashed their throats after throwing chilli powder on their faces.

"As per preliminary investigation it looks like the couple was murdered for a loot, as the jewellery was found missing and the cash locker was also found open. We are looking at all the angles," he stated.

The police clues team is also suspecting the hands of burglars and are interrogating the couple's relatives. Sources stated that since the couple were running a Kirana shop and their children were settled abroad, the thieves might have assumed that they have a lot of jewellery and cash. However, when they did not find the expected amount they killed them.

Police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
