State BJP president K Laxman interacting with Express editorial team in Hyderabad on Friday | R Satish Babu
HYDERABAD: All non-BJP parties, including the TRS, may join forces with the Congress in Telangana after the 2019 polls against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. That means it would be the BJP versus the rest of political parties in the State in the 2019 polls. Hence the BJP will go it alone in the next election to capture power in Telangana, BJP State president K Laxman has announced.
“TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and TDP boss and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu began their political careers in Congress. They both are still in touch with the Congress. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that he joined hands with Congress on KCR’s advice while Naidu openly supported the Congress.
All this shows that TRS and TDP are working for the benefit of the Congress to prevent BJP from retaining power at the Centre. Therefore, we have decided to go it alone in Telangana in the 2019 polls,” he said.Laxman, who is launching the first phase of BJP’s Jana Chaithanya Bus Yatra at Yadadri on Saturday, interacted with the Express editorial team here on Friday.
He said the Yatra, which will be organised in a phased manner, is aimed at clearing the confusion and misconception among people that there is an understanding between BJP and TRS.“Because of the support extended by KCR government for key decisions taken by Modi government such as demonetisation and GST, it is being rumoured that BJP and TRS are allies. In reality, TRS is a good friend of the Congress. Kumaraswamy joined hands with Congress in Karnataka on the advice of KCR. In Telangana too, Congress and TRS may join hands.”
He said BJP is the only party in the State which is opposing the Congress’ policies and can defeat the TRS on its own. “People are vexed with the 40-years of Congress, 17 years of TDP and four years of TRS rule. BJP is the only alternative to them.”
