Telangana: Two get 14-year jail for employing child labourers

The minors were hired as bonded labourers at a bangle-making industry in Karkhana and Bhavani Nagar.

HYDERABAD: The Special Judge for Economic offences cum VIII Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge, Hyderabad has recently sentenced two accused to 14 years rigorous imprisonment for employing minor children as bonded labour in their bangle making industry in Karkhana and Bhavani Nagar in Old City.

The accused Mohd Imtiyaz (40) was charged under Sections 370 and 374 of IPC, Sections 16, 17 and 18 of Bonded Labour System Abolition Act and Section 79 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, while another accused Mohammed Munna (28) was charged under Sections 370 and 374 of IPC, Sections 16, 17 and 18 of Bonded Labour System Abolition Act, Section 7 of Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act.
