HYDERABAD: In response to AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s allegations on Saturday morning, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday sent out several tweets calling the allegations a bunch of lies.

Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the cost of Kaleshwaram project was Rs 1 lakh crore, so in reply, Rao attached GOs issued by the previous Congress governments to his tweet to prove that the cost of the project was not `1 lakh crore but less.

“Dear @RahulGandhi Ji, Attached are 3 GOs issued in 2007, 2008 & 2010 (Congress Govt) wherein the cost estimate of Ambedkar Pranahita-Chevella project more than doubled from initial Rs 17,875 Cr to Rs 38,500 Cr and then to Rs 40,300 Cr WITHOUT ANY change in scope!?”  KTR went on to invoke former Congress chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in an attempt to remind Rahul what his new-found ally TDP and others called the CM back then.

“Going by your amazing wisdom @RahulGandhi Ji, was this done by the then Congress Govt to loot the exchequer? As alleged by your current best friend & then opposition leader @ncbn Garu, was ‘Jala Yagnam’ mere ‘Dhana Yagnam’? Was your the then CM ‘Raja of Corruption’?”

In another tweet that followed, KTR belittled Rahul’s speech. Further, he asked, “With 10 times more storage capacity (16 TMC to 160 TMC), 3 additional barrages & 3 pump houses & increased cost of relief & rehabilitation coupled with cost escalation over 8 years will the cost not go up @RahulGandhi Ji? Do you not see cost escalations in Karnataka projects?”
