Bribery case: CBI teams may question Telugu politicians

HYDERABAD: The CBI officials, who registered cases against CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of SIT and two private persons in  graft cases, were understood to have collected WhatsApp data and call data of the key suspect Moin Akthar Qureshi who had allegedly conversed with a few political leaders from the two Telugu States.  

As the complainant Satish Babu Sana is a resident of Gachibowli in the city, the investigation agency suspect the involvement of three political leaders in the bribes offered to CBI officials for not harassing the complainant in Vanpic and other cases. Satish Babu is believed to have revealed the names of Sukesh Gupta, jewellery businessman, Shabbir Ali and meat exporter Moin Akthar Qureshi,  in his statement to the agency.

It was also reported that Satish Babu gave the names of few prominent political leaders and public representatives and their contact details to the agency for crosschecking the conversation with CBI officials and hawala gangs. “CBI teams led by Superintendent of Police (SP) rank officer from Delhi  will visit Hyderabad for questioning these political leaders based on inputs by the complainant. The Delhi CBI teams will also take the help of city agency,’’ sources said.

In his statement, Satish Babu has said that in pursuance of the promise for payment of Rs 2 crore on October 10 2018, he was informed by Manoj Prasad, a Dubai-based businessman, to hand over the amount to his person Punit in Delhi and also shared his mobile number.  He paid Rs 25 lakh. Later, Satish Babu  paid 25,000 Dirhams (approximately Rs 5 lakh)  to Manoj Prasad in Dubai by his friend Surya.  Again, he gave 30,000 dirhams (approximately Rs 6 lakh) to Manoj Prasad by one Mutthu in Dubai. 

The meat exporter Moin Akthar Qureshi, who was under the CBI scanner for graft charges, allegedly indulged in hawala transactions.
