HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a 21-year-old woman committed suicide because she was upset with her mother who sought her help with household chores. B Alekhya consumed an unknown poison after an argument with her mother. She succumbed while undergoing treatment later on Saturday night.

Alekhya is the daughter of Shivakumar and Kethamma. She stays in Kakatiya Nagar and had recently completed her graduation. Her brother Maheshwar is studying in college. Recently, her mother developed severe back pain and is under medication. As she was struggling with the chores at home, she requested Alekhya to help her but in vain.

Later, Kethamma was admitted at Gandhi hospital for treatment and was discharged only a week ago. Due to the pain and the effect of medicines, Kethamma was not able to do any work at home and asked Alekhya to help, but she refused as usual. On Saturday noon, Kethamma again asked her daughter to help her with the chores, but she refused and that escalated into an argument.

Enraged, she consumed an unknown poison. Kethamma noticed this only after sometime but immediately rushed her daughter to the hospital where she died in the night. Based on a complaint from Shivakumar, a case under 174 CrPC has registered. Alekhya’s family members and relatives told police that she was very sensitive from childhood and got angry even for small issues. Police, however, said they were looking at all angles to find the exact issue.
