HYDERABAD: Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has announced that gold-coating works for vimana gopuram (temple tower) of the Vemulawada Temple will begin soon, after getting approval from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
On Thursday, the minister, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held a review meeting on the Vemulawada Master Plan. During the meeting, officials informed the ministers that the temple currently has 59 kg of gold and an additional 16 kg gold is required for gold-coating. The estimated cost for the works is Rs 6 crore.
Surekha instructed officials to ensure that the temple’s development is planned with a long-term vision, addressing the need of the next 100 years. She also urged them to explore ways to mobilise funds through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and donations from philanthropists. Officials were also asked to expand the vedic school.
Officials were told to prepare a detailed report on land acquisition and the master plan. She reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving the sanctity of the temple while undertaking the necessary modernisation to enhance pilgrimage experience.
