
SURYAPET : The bandh call given by all Opposition parties in Suryapet town on Friday evoked partial response from people and business establishments. BJP, Congress, TDP and Left parties had jointly given a bandh call against the selection of private land for Suryapet new Collectorate building construction as well as illegal arrests of Opposition leaders in the wake of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s visit.
All parties’ activists held a rally in the town. Some commercial establishments, schools and petrol bunks were closed. Meanwhile, BJP leader Sankineni Venkateshwar Rao, Congress leader R Damodar Reddy and other parties’ leaders said people extended cooperation to the bandh call.
Meanwhile, addressing media in Nalgonda, Energy minister G Jagadeesh Reddy said, “In view of the CM’s tour in Suryapet on Thursday, Opposition parties tried to create law and order problem and in that connection, police had taken measures to protect law and order in the town,” he said, adding that people opposed the bandh and the call failed in the town.
