SRINAGAR: First corruption and now nepotism has cast an ominous shadow over Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The State Accountability Commission (SAC) has challenged the employment of advisors and vice-chairpersons of certain state government boards and issued notice to Abdullah for having politically favoured the appointments flouting all laws and regulations. This comes at a time when the embattled Abdullah is trying hard to undo the damage done to his government by corruption charges against most of its Cabinet ministers.

The SAC has shot notices to Abdullah, Devender Singh Rana, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah (Bukhari)  Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, Choudhary Bashir Ahmad Naz, Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars and Bakerwals, Rachpal Singh, Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Other Backward Classes, Swarn Lata, Vice-Chairperson, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Scheduled Castes and Shamima Firdous.

Chairperson, J&K State Commission for Women directing them to appear before the commission on March 5, 2012 for filing statement of defence to the respondents.
