The Spring-Summer 2013 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is on and today—the second day—we will see talented actor  Manoj Bajpai walking the ramp for equally talented fashion designer Samant Chauhan. This is definitely not the first time for Bajpai to strut the ramp. He had earlier walked for designers Troy Costa and Reynu Taandon.

What is special, however, for Manoj to be the showstopper for Chauhan is their ‘Bihar’ connect. Chauhan hails from Bhagalpur—the silk town of Bihar—and always makes it a point to dig his roots for his collections. Chauhan was well appreciated for his efforts in branding Bhagalpur Silk as ‘Ahimsa’ silk, where the silk worms are not killed to extract the yarn. This effort of his saw him invited to the prestigious Esthetica during London Fashion Week back in 2008.

Bajpai’s Bihar roots are well known and his stellar performance in Gangs of Wasseypur made him the lovable Bihar key Lala. However, Bajpai will strut the ramp as a Rajput prince in Rajputana Poshak, which is Chauhan’s theme for the collection.
