Chennithala Holding Antony's Hand in US

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala cancelled all his official engagements till December 28 and left for the US from New Delhi on Saturday night with Congress Working Committee member A K Antony. He is accompanying Antony for his medical check-up at Mayo Clinic in the US.

Chennithala flew to Delhi from here on Friday evening. Antony and Ramesh were among leaders who were present in a Delhi court on Saturday when Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi got bail in the National Herald case. It is learnt that Sonia had urged Chennithala to accompany Antony, in view of suspected health issues of the septuagenarian leader.

Kerala Leaders' meeting cancelled

In Chennithala's absence, a meeting of top Kerala Congress leaders on Tuesday has been cancelled. CM Oommen Chandy, Ramesh and KPCC president V M Sudheeran and others were to discuss problems in the state party and the government.

Aryadan to Hold Temporary Charge

In view of the trip, charge of Home and Vigilance portfolios held by Chennithala has been temporarily assigned to Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed
