Soon, Hop-On Hop-Off Buses for Amritsar

The hop-on hop-off AC double-decker buses will soon be plying on the tourist circuit in Amritsar. Sources said the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) has floated tenders for five buses. These buses will have multi-lingual guides on board and will start from three spots in the holy city: the international airport, Jallianwala Bagh and the tourism department’s office. The route of these hop-on hop-off buses will include major tourist attractions, such as the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple, Summer Palace in Ram Bagh, Gobindgarh Fort and the heritage village in Guru Nanak Dev University.  Subsequently, these tourist buses will be used to ferry tourists to witness the retreat ceremony at the Attari border and historic places like Pul Kanjri.

Director of Punjab Tourism Department, NPS Randhawa said, “We will start with five buses in the first phase, and then as per response from the public, the number of buses could be increased,” he added.
