NEW DELHI:Long queues and endless wait at government offices may soon be a thing of the past. To provide citizens easy access to government officials, the government has come out with an appointment system, MyVisit, wherein you can book your meetings in advance online so that your visit at the office is quick and hassle-free.

MyVisit is a cloud-based application software developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). It has an easy-to-use graphical interface and is embedded with comprehensive security features. Citizens can book their appointment online and select the department and officer whom they wants to meet.

To make an appointment, the visitor has to log on to evisitors.nic.in and get registered. Thereafter, information regarding the appointment is sent to the visitor via SMS and email. To-date, 81 GoI departments, including Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Delhi Police, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Home Affairs,  Department of Economic Affairs and Department of Justice. A total of 4,530 officials have enrolled on the website. The government is trying to rope in more departments.

Sidestepping the Red Tape

■  Visitors submit visit details on the registration page of the website evisitors.nic.in.

■  Details entered (registration number, date of visit and approval status) are communicated to the visitor through SMS/email

■  Visit request will be authenticated/verified by the officer with whom appointment is sought

■  The current approval status of the visit can also be enquired by the visitor on this website by entering his/her registration number

■  Status of visit approval/change in visiting time will be communicated to the visitor through SMS/email

■  A visitor’s pass will be issued after taking a photograph at the reception counter.
