KOZHIKODE: The BJP has always relied on innovative campaign methods to woo voters. The party is taking this to a whole new level in Kerala this time around, by forming a Samanwya Samithi. The Samithi is a conglomerate of RSS, BMS and other parivar groups for campaigning for the BJP and BJDS candidates.

According to senior BJP leaders, such a co-ordinated effort along with RSS and other parivar groups is a first for the party in the state to carry out various booth-level programmes for the candidates. Earlier, only the political outfit of the BJP used to do the election works. But the new system will ensure all its affiliated wings would come under an umbrella to deliver the poll-related tasks.

“The accent is on to give thrust to activities in the Assembly seats where the winning chances of the candidates are high. There has been a complete change in election campaigning ever since the new state leadership under Kummanam Rajasekharan assumed charge. A high-level team assigned by party’s central core committee is evaluating the election-related developments on a day-today basis,” said a senior leader.

BJP Kozhikode district president T P Jayachandran Master said the Samithies have already been active in each constituency, conducting door-to-door campaigns and interacting with the local communities, mainly minorities.

“We are collating the feedbacks from the ground level. This is for the first time in the state that the party has gone for a complete overhaul of its approach to poll campaign,” he added. The Samanwya Samithi has been formed in a two-tier level system. The first level— grama samithi—will work in the grass root level followed by Mahanagaram.
