Indians in UAE Jail for 'Spying'

If true, it’s shocking. Five Indians, three of them Keralites, are in a UAE jail for ‘spying’ for their home country. But their relatives here say all of them are victims of a trap laid down by officials of the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi. Following allegations that two officers of the Indian embassy in UAE, who put pressure on the Indians working in Meena Port in UAE to pass ‘vital information’ regarding the movement of ships at the port, the Ministry of External Affairs has convened a meeting of the relatives of the five persons in UAE jail on April 13 in Delhi to get to the truth.  When contacted MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said: “The External Affairs Ministry is not aware about such a case. Prima facie it appears to be a ridiculous allegation. But in any case we will enquire into the facts.”
