'I Wish for a Behavioural Change in Delhi People'

Samiran Sarangi

Daughter of Anant Swarup, Executive Director, Railway Board, and home-maker Priyamvada Joshi

Ananya Swarup is consistently a good performer in class and takes up academic challenges with aplomb. She likes studies as much as she loves art. She picks up a brush and pours her emotions and creative zest into the world of colour, coming out with canvases that somes time amaze even her parents. “It comes naturally to me. The moment I pick up the brush, thoughts come charging in various hues. I get immersed in it,” says the Class IX student of Sanskriti School and daughter of Anant Swarup, Executive Director, Railway Board.

Ananya did three years of schooling abroad when her father was working overseas, but her emotions are attached to the city of Delhi. But the city has to progress a lot as far as infrastructure is concerned, she says. “I was elated on hearing that Delhi will be transformed into a Smart City, but I wish there would be a behavioural change among the people and they would want to keep their city clean and tidy,” she explains.

Quick at adopting technology, she says that advancement in science should be better utilised to tackle societal issues. “Technology should be made affordable and available to all to make Delhi a better place.” says Ananya. What else would she like? More time with her busy father, especially during weekends, she smiles.
