In the middle of Delhi University flaring up with sloganeering for Kashmir and azaadi by the ‘extreme Leftists’, it came as a pleasant break to attend the launch of Selina Sen’s book on Kashmir, Zoon. The publishers, Westland Publications and Sunayana Chibba, hosted the launch of the book that talks about beauty of the place and the heartbreak it has witnessed.
This was done through a panel discussion held at the Bikaner House on the evening of March 1. The panel had designer and film-maker Muzaffar Ali, musician Pandit Bhajan Sopori, author Selina Sen, and Rahul Makin moderating the discussion.
The evening was serenaded with music by Abhay Rustum Sopori and Munir Ahmed Mir’s soulful singing, accompanied with melodious strumming of the santoor. Saabah Sheikh enhanced it with reading out some poetry from Zoon.
Seen at the event were designers such as Meera Ali, Charu Parashar, theatre personality Sita Raina, politicians Balbir Punj, Kamini Singh, choreographer Rashmi Virmani, among others and others.
