Most issues resolved, says Naga peace interlocutor
Centre’s interlocutor informed the state Cabinet that most of the substantial issues in the peace talks had been resolved and only the “symbolic issues” needed final resolution.

GUWAHATI: Amid a buzz in the Northeast that the government is inching closer towards resolving the Naga political problem, the Centre’s interlocutor, R N Ravi, informed the state Cabinet that most of the substantial issues in the peace talks had been resolved and only the “symbolic issues” needed final resolution, Nagaland chief minister’s office (CMO) said. The CMO did not explain what the “symbolic issues” were.
Earlier, the Naga lawmakers met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and impressed upon him to ensure the settlement of the seven-decade-old problem ahead of the Assembly elections.
“The Chief Minister mentioned that it has been 20 years of negotiations and with the state scheduled to have Assembly polls early next year, it is important that a settlement is initiated before the elections,” the CMO said.
Ravi said it was imperative that all parties were involved in the final negotiations to ensure a peaceful and long-lasting solution. Barring the S S Khaplang faction of the NSCN, seven other Naga insurgent groups are negotiating with the government.
