The cases relate to alleged irregularities in grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval in the Rs 3,500-crore Aircel-Maxis deal when P Chidambaram was finance minister.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini agreed to hear the plea at 2 pm Monday after the probe agency told the court that custodial interrogation of Karti Chidambaram was required in the matter.

The chargesheet also mentions P Chidambaram, who was recently questioned in the INX media and the Aircel-Maxis money laundering cases, but does not name him as an accused.
Apart from Karti, the agency has also named four other in its charge sheet under section 4 (Punishment for money-laundering) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Karti was questioned for the first time by the ED in connection with the case which is related to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted in 2006 in this case by his father.
Soon after, Chidambaram tweeted, "Another round of questions by ED in Aircel-Maxis case. I remind myself that there is no FIR and no offence is alleged."
P Chidambaram arrived at the agency's headquarter annexe office here at about 10:58 AM and was accompanied by a lawyer.
The Enforcement Directorate sought more time to file response on Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea.
Chidambaram, a former Union Finance Minister, was asked by the Central Bureau of Investigation to appear before it on May 31 for questioning in the INX Media case.
