What is the capital of Andhra Pradesh? Before 2014, one would have replied, Hyderabad!, without a second thought. Now, it is Amaravati , a Greenfield city proposed to be built from scratch by the TDP government in 2014. Fast forward to 2022. There is a cloud hanging over this yet to be built capital. The Jagan government believes it is an impractical proposition. Why?

Over 100 arrested in 'largest-ever' NIA raids in 11 states over terror funding charges

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a nationwide probe on September 22 and raided the premises linked to Popular Front Of India (PFI) in several states, government sources said. As many as 106 PFI leaders and functionaries have been arrested across 10 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

'Will come back soon with SSLV-D2', says ISRO after SSLV-D1 deviates

The Indian Space Research Organisation, or ISRO, launched its smallest rocket, carrying an Earth observation satellite EOS-02 and a student satellite AzaadiSAT from the spaceport in Sriharikota on July 7. However, ISRO released a statement saying that the satellites onboard its maiden SSLV "are no longer usable" after the SSLV-D1 placed them in an elliptical orbit instead of a circular one. Earlier, the mission suffered a data loss in its terminal phase. The space agency said that a committee would analyse and make recommendations for today's episode.

Andhra Pradesh: Over 100 women workers taken ill following a gas leak in garment unit

A toxic gas leak at Atchutapuram Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Anakapalle district, Andhra Pradesh on July 2 left over 100 women workers ill. The workers apparently complained of suffocation after inhaling the toxic gas around 6:45 pm. Immediately, they were evacuated and rushed to the hospital. At least five women are on ventilator support at the Anakapalle Area Hospital. The others are reportedly in stable condition. The accident took place at Seeds Intimate Apparel India Private Limited located at the Brandix India Apparel City. This is the second time a gas leak has been reported in the SEZ in 2022.

The toll increased to six in the chemical factory blast that occurred late Wednesday night at Akkireddygudem in #Eluru district’s Musunuru mandal. Five died on the spot and one succumbed while undergoing treatment at Government General Hospital in Vijayawada. The factory -- Porus Laboratories Private Limited -- has been closed temporarily pending investigation.
