BJP office-bearer sticks Modi's photograph on billboards for 44th Chess Olympiad

A BJP office-bearer on Wednesday affixed bright portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on billboards put up here as part of the Tamil Nadu government's publicity campaign for the 44th Chess Olympiad, set to commence on July 28. Amar Prasad Reddy, president of the sports and skill development cell of Tamil Nadu BJP, released a video clip of him fixing photographs of Modi on hoardings, along with two others.

Chennai: Fire breaks out at Rajiv Gandhi govt hospital; Patients Evacuated

A major fire broke out at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai on April 27. According to the preliminary sources, the fire broke out in a storage room at the Tower 2 of the Govt Hospital, due to a short circuit. Over 4 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The patients have been shifted to other wards safely. So far no casualties or injuries have been reported.

Tamil Nadu observes first full Sunday lockdown as fresh Covid 19 cases cross 10,000 mark

On January 9, 2022, Tamil Nadu observed the first of a series of full lockdowns to be observed every Sunday, in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases and the spread of the Omicron variant. Essential services that are permitted during the full lockdown include milk booths, ATMs, hospitals, hospital-related works, goods transportation, and petrol bunks. Tamil Nadu Rains: Chennai rainfall among highest in last 200 years!

Chennai crossed the 1,000-mm mark in terms of rainfall received this month. This has happened only three times before in the last 200 years. Chennai, along with other coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, has been receiving heavy rains for several days. Water stagnation has been reported in 186 streets across 75 areas in #Chennai.
