He also mentioned that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had requested the Central government for the alienation of these lands back in 2017.
Singh reiterated that the fighter planes were meant only for self-defence and not for aggression.
The Opposition had slammed the Centre and Rajnath for giving a religious spin to the ceremony. Earlier during a public meeting in Nanded, Owaisi had made similar comments.
The Defence Minister said the contribution of scientists is no less than that of Army, Navy and Airforce that play an important role in protecting the country.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Esper told him that the abrogation of provisions of Article 370 was an internal matter of India.
Rajnath's statement came during his visit to Pokhran, where he paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the latter's first death anniversary.
