The lowest temperature was recorded at the Ayanagar station, which registered a minimum temperature of 5.9 degree Celsius here, the India Meteorological Department said.
At 8:30 am, the minimum temperatures in Palam and Safdarjung were reported at 4.6 degrees Celsius and 3.2 degrees Celsius respectively by the India Meteorological Department.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 18 and 10 degree Celsius with shallow fog in the morning.
It is also the third consecutive "cold wave" day in the city, said Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of the IMD's regional forecasting centre.
The Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, recorded a minimum of 4.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal.
The Safdarjung and Palam weather stations recorded a visibility of 300 metres due to ‘moderate’ fog at 8:30 am, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The CISF ordered over 15,000 masks for its personnel deployed at IGI Airport, Delhi Metro and other government installations.
Primary schools to remain closed in Delhi on 8 October in view of the deteriorating quality of air in the city.
