Gujarat Hooch Tragedy: Over 40 dead; 50 hospitalised

Atleast 40 people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Gujarat's Botad district, while over 50 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Bhavnagar, Botad and Ahmedabad. The hooch tragedy broke out on the morning of July 25 after people living in Rojid and surrounding villages fell ill and rushed to the government hospitals seeking remedy. According to police, forensic analysis has established that the victims consumed methyl alcohol.

Teacher recruitment scam: ED arrests WB minister Partha Chatterjee; Rs 20 crore recovered

West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam. The arrest comes hours after ₹ 20 crore was recovered from a close aide of the minister. Chatterjee was the education minister when the scam took place. The ED has also conducted raids on Minister of State for Education Paresh Adhikary and MLA Manik Bhattacharya in connection with the alleged scam.

AIADMK scraps dual leadership; EPS to take on the reigns, OPS ousted

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) annulled the dual leadership structure and formally appointed Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) as the party’s Interim General Secretary. Sarala Vastu famed #ChandrashekharGuruji from Bagalkot was stabbed to death inside a hotel near Unkal Lake in Hubballi on Tuesday afternoon. Prophet remarks row: ISIS claims Gurdwara explosion in Kabul, says attack as retaliation
